Based in central Portsmouth, Southdowns was set up myself Matthew Hird in 2018 after many years as a self employed engineer for M Hird Plumbing and Heating.

We have been looking after large corporate customers as well as our local community customers since 2006 and have continued to support these customers as Southdowns.

We look after many of landlords throughout Portsmouth, from student to social housing and also landlords with just one property.

We have been using a computerised booking and customer care system for many years now which allows us to be more efficient in the sending of electronic certificates and service reports the moment the job has been completed. This has allowed us to spend less time on paperwork and more time on actually doing the job. It has also benefitted our customers by sending annual reminders for service or gas safety work and giving realtime updates for work carried out in rental properties. In other situations where parts or materials are required an estimate can be produced and sent for approval before any works are carried out.
